First Trimester of Pregnancy

The first trimester of a pregnancy is extremely important. It also can be difficult to cope with as the woman generally feels unwell during this time. The first trimester is calculated from the day of conception to the 12th week of pregnancy. First trimester is the time when several hormonal changes take place in the body. Women in their first trimester tend to experience nausea, fatigue, food cravings, and dizziness. Some women also go through intense food aversion. They may be a change in their complexion. The frequency to urinate also increases. It is important that women take nutritious diet during this time, and give up smoking and drinking.

Second Trimester of Pregnancy

The second trimester is the period from the 13th-28th week of pregnancy. During this time, women are able to experience some movement in the womb. This is also the time when the umbilical cord starts thickening, in order to supply food and oxygen to the fetus. This is a sign of baby’s growth. A healthy diet during this time is a must, as it will also aid in the baby’s growth. Light exercises are also recommended during this period.

Third Trimester of Pregnancy

The time between the 29th week till the baby is born is the third trimester. This is the time when the woman will undergo changes in her physical shape and size, due to the baby’s growth. A well-balanced diet along with plenty of rest is advised to the woman during this period. Women should avoid lifting weights or standing for a long period of time in her third trimester.
